This week the companies in Hexatronic Group are participating in Climate Action Week. Our goal is to contribute to a more sustainable society by taking a holistic approach to sustainable development. As a global player in fiber expansion, we play an important role in the impact of current and future connectivity infrastructures. We want our actions now to contribute to a more sustainable society in the future.
Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, the world’s nations agreed to limit global warming to under 2 degrees Celsius, with the vision not to exceed 1.5°C.
In August 2021, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a report, which reveals the following:
- The situation is serious, and we will be facing increasingly extreme weather moving forward
- We risk exceeding the 1.5°C target if we don’t act now
- There is no doubt whatsoever that mankind’s emissions of greenhouse gases have contributed to a rise in the global average temperature
- We are approaching threshold effects that could lead to unimagined and irreversible consequences
- Rapid and dramatic reductions in emissions are needed NOW if we are to achieve the 1.5°C goal
The UN Climate Change Conference, COP26 in Glasgow, is currently under way. The aim is that the world’s nations should go from words to action and present plans for fulfilling the promises of the 2015 Paris Agreement. Over the coming ten-year period, global climate emissions need to be halved, and to be almost zero by 2050.
